The Sayre Historical Society will open an exhibition on Sayre during World War I on Saturday April 7th. The new exhibit, called “The Fight for Liberty: Sayre in World War I,”will open Saturday, April 7th and run until September 5th. Admission is free. A wide variety of historic photographs are included in the exhibit including members of the Sayre Machine Gun Company, the Baxter brothers, the Sayre Canteen, 1st Lt. George C. Meikle, the Welcome Home Parade and the Dough Boy Monument. A World War I uniform that was used by Nathan Johnson of Sayre, along with a Red Cross uniform belonging to Sarah McMahon.
