The trial of Jeremy Coates continues in Chenango County. On Thursday, Melissa Crispell testified against Coates. She testified that Coates and herself were at victim David Green’s house in Oxford smoking marijuana. Later in the evening Crispell claims that Coates assaulted Green with a rock. Crispell alleged that Coates was trying to rob Green of money and marijuana. In cross examination, the defense tried to lay blame for the murder on Crispell rather than Coates. Crispell pled guilty in 2017 as part of a plea deal and is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence.
