On Sunday, the Owego Police Department responded to a report of a burglary of a garage on Academy Street in the Village of Owego. The suspect left the area after being confronted by the home owner. While the officer was still in the area, a report of a burglary in progress on McMaster Street was received. Officers from both the Owego Police Department and the New York State Police responded, and a man was located in a detached garage. The suspect matched the description given from the burglary on Academy Street. 26-year-old Matthew J. Ball of Newark Valley was arrested and charged with two counts of felony Burglary. Ball was also wanted on other charges from the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office and the Johnson City Police. Ball was remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $20,000 cash bail.
