On Saturday, Spencer-Van Etten high school dedicated its soccer field to 12-year-old Sean Libby Van Ness, whose life was cut short in 2008. He lost his battle to Crohn’s disease along with an immune deficiency. His family says his bravery inspired many in the community. Spencer Van Etten High School unveiled a new soccer scoreboard with Sean’s name and jersey number on it. Sean was raised in Spencer and born with an immune deficiency called CGD that affects about 4-in-1 million people, mostly males.
