Monday evening, New York State Troopers were dispatched to the Walmart in Cortlandville for a larceny where the suspect had fled on a bicycle. A short time later, troopers were called to a fire that was believed to have been set deliberately at the Dunkin Donuts in Cortlandville. The suspect matched the description of the person involved in the theft at Walmart. After an investigation, the fire was determined to be arson with no accidental cause present in the area. 28-year-old David J. Thompson of Cortland was arrested and charged with felony Arson and misdemeanor Larceny. He was arraigned in Cortlandville and remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
