New York has provided a $3 million grant towards rehab and preservation of historic Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. Long considered the home of baseball, Doubleday Field officially opened in September 1920 with wooden grandstands and, over the years, grew into the nearly 10,000-seat stadium it is today. The total project will cost $6 million.
