The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the Elmira City School District will be expanding their Agreement to provide School Resource Officers to elementary schools in the Elmira City School District at the beginning of this school year. Four officers will be hired to cover the eight elementary schools located within the district. The officers will be retired police officers from various law enforcement agencies throughout the Southern Tier. The Agreement is pending legislative approval at the county level and will appear on the legislative agenda in the month of August.
