The Southside and Campville Fire Departments were dispatched to a heating oil spill in a Town of Owego residence on Monday afternoon. The heating oil tanks had been filled that day and was leaking from a seam near the bottom of the tank. About 400 gallons of heating oil had spilled into the basement of the home. Luckily, there was no ignition of vapors, and no further damage to the building. The oil company dispatched a truck that was able to vacuum the fuel. Fire department personnel were released after about four hours. There were no injuries.
