A woman who suffered cardiac arrest is expected to survive after the quick actions of New York State Troopers and a passerby. On Friday, a trooper stationed at Richfield Springs was dispatched to a report of a 70-year-old woman who had collapsed in the lobby of the Richfield Springs Post Office. She was unresponsive when the trooper arrived. The passerby was already performing CPR. A New York State Police Lieutenant and the trooper attached an Automated External Defibrillator and administered two shocks. When Richfield Springs EMS arrived, they took over the woman’s care and transported her to Basset Hospital in Cooperstown. The AED remained attached and delivered several more shocks. The woman regained consciousness at the hospital and is expected to recover.
