Last week, the State Police arrested 27-year-old Julian Santo of Syracuse. A trooper monitoring traffic on Interstate 81 in Homer observed Santo’s vehicle traveling over 100 mph. When the trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, Santo refused to stop his vehicle, flailed his arms out the window, and also stuck his head out the window. Santo came to an abrupt stop and did not comply with the trooper’s commands. Once Santo was removed from the vehicle, he tried to pull away from the trooper and attempted to reach for the trooper’s gun. The trooper was able to gain control of Santo and was assisted by two other troopers in placing him under arrest. The suspect was arraigned in the town of Cortlandville and remanded to the Cortland County Jail.
