Three people were seriously injured in a head-on DWI crash in Newfield. On Sunday at about 7PM, 27-year-old Andrew Sampson of Horseheads crossed the double line on Shaffer Road and struck a Ford Fusion. The three people in the Fusion were airlifted to Upstate Medical in Syracuse. About an hour later, Sampson was arrested and charged with felony Vehicular Assault, misdemeanor DWI, the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. He was also issued several traffic tickets. Sampson was arraigned in the town of Newfield Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail.
