United Health services has received a $139,000 grant from Excellus Blue Cross/Blue Shield to bring in new diabetic vision screening equipment to the UHS Primary Care Centers. Vision loss is a major side effect of diabetes, but early detection and treatment can prevent vision loss. In many cases there are no symptoms in the early stages of diabetic retinopathy. The new equipment will address this.
