A funeral service for Owego resident Dennis “Matt” Howe has been scheduled for Monday at 10am at Owego United Methodist Church on Main Street. Howe was seriously injured last week while working with the state transportation department on Route 17 west in Nichols. The driver of a tractor trailer crashed his rig into Howe’s vehicle in a construction zone. New York has a “move over” law. Howe died Monday.
His family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home on Park Street in Owego. After the funeral service on Monday, a procession will leave the church on Main Street to John Street to Front Street. The public
is encouraged to honor the procession from the sidewalks, not the streets, according to a news release from the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office.
