A gunman is dead following a 14-hour standoff in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. A state trooper was also shot and wounded and second trooper suffered a leg injury.
The scene unfolded Tuesday when troopers were called to check on the welfare of a man on Barney Hill Road in Nelson Township. Police entered the home through an open door and announced their presence. A gunshot was fired, wounding one trooper. He was flown from the scene and is in stable condition in a hospital. A second trooper suffered a leg injury. He was treated and released.
Numerous attempts were made to get the man to surrender. He responded by shooting at the troopers. At two o’clock Wednesday morning, the SWAT team returned fire, killing the gunman.
