After a lengthy investigation, a man from the Town of Horseheads in Chemung County, was charged with three felonies for child abuse. Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announce Wednesday the arrest of LAWRENCEL. CAMPBELL, JR., 47, of 9 Depot Road, Breesport, for:
- one count of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a Class A-II Felony,
- one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a Class B Felony,
- one count of Rape in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony,
- and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.
In November 2019, the Sheriff’s Office first arrested CAMPBELL for several sex offenses after a lengthy investigation. As a result of that arrest, a new victim came forward with information pertaining to CAMPBELL sexually abusing her on several occasions, over the course of approximately 11 years while she was a child.
CAMPBELL was indicted by a Grand Jury following a joint investigation with the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office. CAMPBELL was remanded to the Chemung County jail and bail was set at $500K cash/$1M property.
