(Athens, Pa.) – The Harlan Rowe National Junior Honor Society and Student Council members in the Athens School District had a wonderful time spreading holiday cheer throughout the community last week.
Students participated in a dodgeball tournament and paid one-dollar time to get back into the game every time they were hit. They raised $589. They then used this money to shop for winter gear and other warm attire for kids from 5-15 years old.
They took these items to Dale’s Depot in Towanda. This organization works with local agencies to donate items in need to children entering foster care. The students also enjoyed delivering handmade Christmas cards and singing holiday carols for the residents at the Sayre Home Health Care.
Students were thankful for the opportunity to have this important and meaningful experience, and were grateful to spread positivity and smiles to our community. The members would like to extend a special thank you to the administration and advisors who helped support and organize the event: Mrs. Devine, Mrs. Hilbert, Mrs. Reeves, and Mrs. Roberts.
