(Binghamton, NY) – In Broome County Court, Peter A. Scott, 75, of Binghamton, was sentenced to 1½ to 3 years in New York State prison after entering a plea of guilty to felony Attempted Assault in the Second Degree.

Scott admitted that on June 22, 2022, he stabbed a 58-year-old male in the arm with a knife, during a dispute at 138 Grand Ave., Johnson City. The victim was not seriously injured.

Scott has a lengthy criminal history, including a prior conviction for felony Attempted Robbery in 2019 in Broome County.

“Defendant Scott has a history of criminal behavior dating back to 1982. A State prison sentence is the only way to protect the citizens of our community from this individual,” said Michael A. Korchak, Broome County District Attorney.

The case was investigated by the Johnson City Police Department. Senior Assistant District Attorney Alex Czebiniak prosecuted the case for the Broome County District Attorney’s Office.
