(Nichols, NY) – Tioga Downs Casino Resort announces Opening Day of its 2023 live harness racing season is Saturday, May 6. This year’s season has 59 live race dates and plenty of promotions, including wiener and bulldog races, giveaways, carnival rides and contests.
Opening day features live harness races, with first post at 5:15 p.m. Racegoers can watch and wager on the 149th Kentucky Derby, enjoy live entertainment at Coaster’s Beer Garden, and participate in the 2023 Tioga Downs magnet calendar and T-shirt giveaway, $500 Derby Dream Bet and Derby Day Hat Contest.
There are also seven New York Sire Stakes cards this season, featuring the games top drivers and horses, with the $500,000 Empire Breeders Classic Finals for three-year-old colt and filly pacers on Sunday, August 27.
Tioga Downs is set to host various recurring weekly promotional events. Harness Racing Bingo is every Friday, with up to 20 winners every night. Sunday Family Day Specials will feature dollar food specials, free farm tours, starting gate rides and bounce houses and a water slide starting Memorial Day weekend.
Alongside harness racing, attendees can meet and pet horses on select Sundays as Allerage Farm will bring retired racehorses, mares and its baby foals to the track. Tioga Downs also offers fireworks nights, a Mascot Day, miniature horse races and great food specials throughout the season.
