The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 28-year-old Elmira man for felony assault in the second degree following an incident at the Chemung County Jail.
According to police, on April 1, Lemont R. Pinckney allegedly struck another inmate with a closed fist multiple times in the face, causing unconsciousness and a fractured jaw to the victim.
An investigation was conducted by the Chemung County Jail and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
As a result of that investigation, Pinckney was charged with the Class D felony. He was arraigned and returned to the Chemung County Jail.
