Route 199 reconstruction project continues this week in Valley

A four-year reconstruction project continues this week on Route 199 in the Valley.

The week of Monday, July 29, 2024, contractor, Kriger Construction, will continue work on the full-depth reconstruction project on Main Street (Route 199) southbound between Spruce Street and Cooper Street. Work includes new pavement, drainage improvements, utility relocations, sidewalk and curb improvements, ADA curb ramp installations, traffic signal upgrades, driveway adjustments, signing and pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction.

Final paving course for both north and south bound lanes on Route 199 between Spruce Street and Vanderbilt Street will be placed after reconstruction of the southbound lane between Spruce Street and Cooper Street has been completed.

Detour information:

  • Northbound cars will continue to follow a .78 mile detour using Walnut Street, N. River Steet, and E. Orchard Street.
  • Southbound cars will continue to be maintained in the work zone.
  • Truck traffic will follow a 7.7-mile detour using Route 220 and Interstate 17 (Southern Tier Expressway).

Motorists should be alert and slow down through the work zone.

Kriger Construction, Inc., is the prime contractor on this $16.4 million, four-year roadway reconstruction project. The project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2024.
