A dog was killed and a family lost their home after a fire destroyed a house in Apalachin on Sunday night.
According to the Apalachin Fire Department, the blaze occurred at around 6 p.m. on Main Street in Apalachin on Sunday.
Firefighters were able to get to the scene quickly and knock down the fire, but there was already severe damage to the home.
A family dog was killed despite efforts on scene by local first responders.
No other injuries were reported from the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family affected by the fire.
The Owego and Campville Fire Departments assisted Apalachin firefighters during the incident.
