Wyalusing Valley Junior/Senior High School will be implementing new cell phone guidelines for the upcoming school year.

According to the school district, cell phones will be prohibited in the school building and on campus including in classrooms, study halls, hallways, gyms, locker rooms and bathrooms during school hours unless specifically allowed by administration.

Students are expected to power off their cell phones and have them stored in their backpack or locker if they bring them on school grounds.

Students in grades 9 through 12 are allowed to use their cell phones during their lunch period. The privilege of using phones during lunch may be revoked if the guidelines are not followed.

There will be exceptions to the new guidelines, including for medical reasons and other extenuating circumstances.

There will be a three-strike policy for students who break the new cell phone rules. The first two strikes will include confiscation of the phone with the second offense including a 45-day ban. A third strike will include the student not being allowed to bring their phone to school for the remainder of the school year.
