A woman was killed in a house fire in Apalachin early Wednesday morning.
The Apalachin Fire Department responded to a call from a neighbor for a reported house fire on the 400 block of Main Street in Apalachin.
Firefighters responded quickly and worked to rescue a trapped victim while putting out the fire.
Despite life-saving measures from first responders, the female victim died from her injuries at the hospital.
Firefighters from Owego and Campville along with the New York State Police, Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, Tioga County Emergency Services and Tioga County Fire Investigation Team also responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
