A Meshoppen man is behind bars — accused of trying to hire a hitman in Bradford County.
State Police say 25-year-old Matthew Simon Bullock was arrested Thursday in Wyalusing Borough after paying an undercover trooper to kill someone, as reported by The Daily Review.
According to investigators, Bullock met the trooper — who he believed was a hired killer — at a park in Wyalusing. Inside his car, he handed over $300 as part of a $1,000 down payment to have a man with the last name Nowlin murdered.
Police say Bullock was upset that Nowlin was seeing a woman he shares a child with.
After the meeting, troopers pulled Bullock over and took him into custody. He later admitted to the plot, reportedly telling investigators he “paid somebody to kill somebody.”
Bullock is charged with criminal solicitation of criminal homicide. He was initially jailed on $1 million bail, but that bail was later denied entirely due to the seriousness of the charge and concern for public safety.
