Man arrested for $8.8K power tool theft

A Chemung County Jail inmate faces charges related to the Oct. 6 theft of $8,800 worth of power tools from a trailer in Southport. 

Chemung County deputies said the investigation led them to recover some of the stolen property at a Holdridge Street home in Southport. Most of the tools had been sold in Horseheads, but were recovered.  

The man allegedly behind the theft, 35-year-old Patrick J. Morgan was charged with burglary in the third degree, grand larceny in the third degree, and criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, all class D felonies. 

He was already in the Chemung County Jail on unrelated charges.
