A man was arrested for arson in the second degree Saturday after Ithaca police said he tried to start a fire in the stairwell of an apartment building.
Police responded to the 100 block of East Green Street around 1:27 a.m., where they say 46-year-old Roy R. Roberts was stopped in the process of setting off the multiple dwelling fire alarm.
Roberts was arraigned and sent to the Tompkins County Jail.
