Horseheads senior Patrick Laney has been named the winner of the 63rd annual Ernie Davis Award.
Laney was honored during the annual Kiwanis Club Luncheon at Elmira’s Clarion Inn. The other nominees were Edison’s Jace Schiller and Elmira’s Zach Conklin.
Laney finished his senior season with a combined 1,143 rushing and receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. He was also a standout on defense with four interceptions on the year.
Outside of football, Laney competes in baseball and track, and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has also volunteered for the Horseheads Food Bank, Arctic League, Wreaths Across America, Horseheads Animal Shelter and with local youth sports.
He is the 7th Blue Raiders standout to win the award over the past eight seasons and the third straight Horseheads players to take home the honor.
