The Johnson City Police Department has identified the victim in last weekend’s fatal car vs. pedestrian accident.
According to police, 54-year-old Herbert Townsend, Jr., who was last known to be residing in Endwell, was killed in the incident.
Police said Townsend was walking on State Route 17 West near Johnson City on Saturday when he was fatally struck by a vehicle.
Conditions at the time of the incident, including darkness and the victim’s dark clothing contributed to the accident.
The driver in the incident is not suspected of any wrongdoing.
