A suspect was injured after a Binghamton Police Officer fired one shot during a struggle last week.
According to police, the incident occurred on Amsbry Street at around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
A member of the Binghamton Police Department Special Investigations Unit encountered a male suspect armed with a handgun.
A struggle ensued and the investigator fired a single shot from their department issued firearm, striking the suspect in the ankle.
The suspect was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigator was treated and released from a local hospital.
Police said criminal charges are expected in this case.
