One person was shot in an officer-involved shooting in Vestal on Wednesday.
According to the Vestal Police Department, the incident occurred at around 11:36 a.m. on Sequoia Lane.
Officers responded to a report of an individual experiencing a mental health crisis.
Police said a man was in possession of a knife and threatening self-harm. Officers made numerous requests for the individual to drop the knife, but he ignored commands and allegedly threw a television at officers.
The individual allegedly threatened officers, raised the knife and advanced toward one officer. Shots were fired by police and the individual was struck.
The individual was treated at the scene before being transported to Wilson Medical Center. No officers were injured during the incident.
The New York State Police will conduct an independent investigation into the incident.
