A Wyoming County man will spend years in state prison for trying to hire a hitman.
According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 26-year-old Meshoppen resident Matthew S. Bullock has been sentenced to a minimum of eight years to a maximum of 20 years for solicitation of murder in the first degree.
He was also sentenced to an additional three months to 36 months for felony criminal use of a communication facility. In total, Bullock could spend up to 23 years in prison.
According to police, Bullock attempted to hire someone to kill a Tunkhannock resident in June of last year.
The man he hired was actually an undercover state trooper.
“We are very fortunate that law enforcement became aware of this and intervened, because if they had not, Bullock may have been successful in hiring another individual to commit murder,” said District Attorney Richard Wilson, who noted that Bullock had reached out to another individual.
