The community will gather on Saturday to celebrate the life of longtime Tioga Central teacher, coach and athletic director Jim Houseknecht.
Houseknecht passed away last week at the age of 56.
He was a physical education teacher and former football, basketball and bowling coach, while also serving many years as Tioga’s athletic director.
To generations of students, Jim was known simply as “Coach” or “House.” He was a mentor, advocate, friend and more to countless kids at Tioga.
A scholarship in honor of Houseknecht has been created. Donations can be sent to the Tioga Central School District Business Office at PO Box 241, Tioga Center, NY, 13845.
The Celebration of Life will take place at the Tioga Central High School gym at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
