North Carolina Man Arrested in Johnson City on Drug Charges

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit has arrested Lionel Black, 27, of Salisbury, North Carolina on numerous felony drug charges.
Black’s arrest ends a three week investigation into him selling narcotics on the streets in the Village of Johnson City and City of Binghamton.
Investigator’s approached Black to take him into custody as he was entering the Oakdale Mall.
Black then took off running through the mall.
He led Investigator’s on a foot chase through the Oakdale Mall, then exited the mall and ran into the surrounding community.
Black was taken into custody after he was discovered hiding under a stoop behind a residence located on Oakdale Road in the Village of Johnson City.
Numerous citizens assisted investigator’s during Black’s fleeing pursuit.
Citizens pointed out Black’s direction of travel to pursuing Investigator’s and where Black had tossed evidence along his attempted escape route.
Investigator’s recovered approximately $1,000.00, cell phones, quantity of heroin and crack cocaine both packaged for sale.
Black is being held in City of Binghamton lock-up pending his arraignment in City Court.
He has been charged with multiple felony counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and two felony counts of Criminal Tampering of Physical Evidence.
The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force is made up of members of the City of Binghamton Police Department, Broome County Sheriff’s Office, and the Village of Johnson City Police Department.
