The man wanted in connection with several robberies in New York was shot and killed by police in Mansfield on Thursday morning.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, 34-year-old Charles B. Costanzo of Old Forge, Pennsylvania led police on a chase that began in New York and ended near Mansfield.
The pursuit ended after a maneuver was used to stop the vehicle near Route 6 and Route 549 in Richmond Township.
The man then ran into a wooded area on foot. He was later located on the Mansfield campus.
Police said Costanzo had an open pocket knife in his hand and ignored commands to drop the knife while coming towards state troopers and a Mansfield University police officer.
State police said a trooper fired their weapon, hitting Costanzo, who died at the scene.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
