Alzina “Tillie” P. Searfoss
Tillie Searfoss, 92, of Sayre, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Sayre Health Care Center after a brief illness.
Tillie was born in Sayre PA , the daughter of Harold “Dutch” and Augusta Searfoss. Tillie was a lifelong resident of Milltown and took great pride in being from Milltown. Tillie was a 1953 graduate of Sayre High School.
Tillie was a crossing guard for the Milltown school before she was employed by Sayre Borough as a meter reader. Tillie was a common sight in downtown Sayre, you would always see Tillie walking and checking the meters. She was the first full time meter reader beginning in April 1964 until she retired in 2001.
Tillie is predeceased by her parents and brothers, Harold “Dutch”, Leo, Clyde , Richard and LeRoy “Skip” and sisters Gertrude “Lizzie”, Arletta “Lete” , Flora “Betty” and special aunt Flora Carmer. Tillie is survived by many nieces and nephews and friend Virginia Malone.
The family would like to thank the staff of Robert Packer Hospital 7 th Floor and Sayre Health Care Center, and Guthrie Hospice for their care of Tillie in her last days.
A celebration of life will be held at the J.E. Wheelock Hose Company, 217 Frank St., Sayre, PA on October 24, at 1:00pm.
