Corning Incorporated reported strong third-quarter results Tuesday, with core sales rising 19 percent from a year earlier to $5.08 billion. The Corning-based company said core earnings per share increased 36 percent to 91 cents.
Optical Communications was a major source of growth. The segment’s third-quarter sales rose 44 percent to $2.38 billion, while Enterprise Networks sales increased 84 percent. Corning said sales of products tied to generative artificial intelligence more than doubled from the same quarter last year.
The company also reported growth in its solar business, where sales increased 37 percent year over year as production continued to ramp. Corning said productivity improvements are expected to support higher output and profitability.
On a generally accepted accounting principles basis, Corning reported $4.86 billion in sales, up 18 percent from the third quarter of 2025. GAAP earnings per share rose 56 percent to 78 cents, and operating cash flow totaled $1.06 billion. The company reported $661 million in adjusted free cash flow for the quarter.
Corning expects the growth to continue in the fourth quarter. Management projected core sales between $5.2 billion and $5.3 billion, which would be about 19 percent above the same period last year. The company also expects core earnings per share between 96 cents and $1, an increase of about 36 percent year over year.
Chairman and CEO Wendell Weeks said the quarter showed the acceleration of Corning’s Springboard growth plan. The company said four long-term, multibillion-dollar customer agreements secured during the quarter support its longer-term expansion strategy.
