The epidemic of area fires continued Monday afternoon with a fire that destroyed a mobile home at 155 Owego Street in Candor. It is believed that the fire originated in an electric heating device being using to thaw water pipes. One firefighter suffered minor burn injuries.... Read More.

Overnight Fire at Truck Stop in Newark Valley

Fire destroyed a restaurant at the Newark Valley Truck Stop. The fire was reported at about 2AM Monday. Initial reports from the scene indicate the front half of the business, the restaurant, has been completely destroyed. A cause has not yet been determined.
