Binghamton man arrested for attempted murder in Vestal; woman in critical condition

Vestal police reported Monday that Zeke Wilmarth, 31, of Binghamton, has been arrested for attempted murder, while the female victim is listed in critical condition.

Lt. Christopher J. Streno, Detective & Administration Division Supervisor, said on Sunday at 5:42pm Vestal Police responded to 205 Garden Lane, Apt. #2, for a report of a domestic incident with injuries. Upon arrival, officers found a female victim on the porch of the house, suffering from multiple stab wounds and other injuries.

Garden Lane is located off Castle Gardens Road, off Vestal Parkway West near the Vestal/Tioga County border..

The woman on the porch reported the person responsible for her injuries was inside the upstairs apartment. A male from that apartment poked his head out of the door, but ignored officer’s commands to exit and instead closed and locked the door.

Officers forced their way into the apartment and took the male into custody. The female victim was transported to a local hospital by the Vestal Emergency Squad.

The ensuing investigation has resulted in the arrest of Zeke Wilmarth, 31, of Binghamton, for attempted murder. The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
