On Thursday at 5:40 p.m., the Binghamton Police Patrol Division responded to 50 Park St. for a report of two children taken from the residence. Upon officers’ arrival, it was determined that the 8 year old sisters were taken by their mother, Amanda Collis, 34, of Hagerstown, Md. It was further learned that the biological father has custody of the children. Collis had removed them without permission. Collis had ties to Crystal Spring, Pa., and Hagerstown, Md. Binghamton Police requested an amber alert, which was broadcast in regard to the incident.
On Friday at approximately 12:30 a.m., Amanda Collis and the children were located, safe, in Hagerstown. Collis was charged with Custodial Interference in the first degree, an E Felony. Arrangements have been made for the return of the children.
Binghamton police were assisted in the investigation by the Southern Tier Crime Analysis Center, New York State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Hagerstown Police Department, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
