Bradford County Commissioners issued a news release Wednesday reporting Coroner Tom Carman tendered his resignation to the Commissioners.
The news release said the Chief Deputy Coroner will temporarily fill the position of Bradford County Coroner
until a replacement is appointed by Gov. Tom Wolfe.
No reason for Carman’s resignation was given in the news release, but WNEP-TV reported Wednesday on its website that Carman was seen in a video allegedly trying to meet up with someone for sex who was posing online as a 15-year-old boy. WNEP-TV also reported the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Carman is under investigation based on what is seen in the video, recorded in Kingston, Pa.
On the coroner’s website, Carman’s bio noted: “Coroner Carman is a Certified Medical Investigator through the American Board of Forensic Medicine. Coroner Carman passed his American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators board examination in Nevada in 2009, and is now a board certified Medicolegal Death Investigator. Coroner Carman participated at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa., completing Advanced Topics in Forensic Science; Investigating Religious and Ritualistic Crime.”
