More than $2 billion in federal stimulus funds have been released to Pennsylvania’s school districts and charter schools to support food programs, technological improvements and other education services impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Rep. Tina Pickett, 110th District.
The federal funding was provided by the bipartisan Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act passed by Congress in December. Pennsylvania is distributing the funds based on enrollment and low-income students.
The allocations for some school districts in the 110th District are as follows:
Athens Area – $2.2 million | ||
Canton Area – $1.25 million | ||
Northeast Bradford – $937,387 | ||
Sayre Area – $1.69 million | ||
Towanda Area – $1.59 million | ||
Troy Area – $1.37 million | ||
Wyalusing Area – $1.16 million |
The funds may be used for a wide range of activities, including food service; professional training; technology purchases; sanitization and cleaning supplies; summer and after-school programs; and mental health support.
