Cortland Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Man in Motel Fatal Stabbing; Kept in Jail

Investigators with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office have made an arrest in the fatal stabbing that occurred on Monday at approximately 7:20 a.m. at the Cortland Motel on Route 11 in the Town of Cortlandville. The defendant, who was originally transported from the scene to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center and later transferred to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse as a result of a stab wound, was released to Investigators at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday after medical treatment. The defendant was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, where he was charged in the fatal stabbing of 31-year-old Attius Clakeley Jr., of Cortland.

Goss, was arraigned in the Cortland City Court at 11:30a.m. Tuesday on the charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a weapon in the 3rd Degree. He was remanded to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility with no bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cortlandville Court on March 23.
