Four high schools — three from New York and one from Pennsylvania — will compete Satursday for the Kwasnoski Cup and a prize of $3,000 at the 41st Annual CHOICE 102 Scholarship Challenge.
Student teams from Waverly, Newark Valley and Tioga Central — all in Tioga County, NY — and Loyalsock in Lycoming County each earned their ways into the championship round by winning qualifying rounds in separate matches againt three other schools.
The championship round starts at noon Saturday at the Sayre Theatre.
This year, Your Hometown Station WEBO has joined WATS/WAVR in the Scholarship Challenge to be broadcast on Choice 102 (102.1 FM WAVR & 960 AM WATS) and also on WEBO’s five signals (98.5 FM Owego, 101.3 FM Candor, 105.1 FM Valley, 107.9 FM Binghamton and 1330 AM).
The venue was moved to the Sayre Theater (because the traditional site at Guthrie in Patterson Auditorium is being used for COVID vaccinations).
