Four Taken to Hospitals after Head-On Crash on Route 434 in Town of Owego

An investigation revealed that a 54-year-old male of Endicott was traveling east on State Route 434 and when making a left turn toward the State Route 17 east on-ramp, failed to yield the right of way and went directly into the path of a vehicle that was traveling west on State Route 434.

The vehicle that was traveling west was operated by an 18-year-old female of Owego. She and three passengers were transported to local hospitals. The 18-year-old driver was transported by Apalachin Squad to Robert Packer for minor injuries. 73-year-old female of Athens, Pa., was transported by Apalachin Squad to Robert Packer and is in serious condition. A 42-year-old male of Owego was transported by Owego Squad to UHS Wilson Hospital and is in critical condition. A 55-year-old female of Owego, NY was transported by Campville Squad to UHS Wilson Hospital and is in critical condition.


The 54-year-old male who was traveling east, was not transported to a local hospital and was evaluated at the scene. The investigation is on-going.
