High-School Soccer: Owego Girls and Boys, SVEC Boys One Step Away From Section IV Titles and Tickets to States

TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. — Tioga County high-school soccer will be well-represented in the Section IV championship Friday and Saturday with three teams vying not just for their Section Titles but also for the right to move on to the state playoffs.

The Owego girls soccer team advanced to the Class B championship Tuesday night with their overtime win against Waverly 1-0 and will play Chenango Valley Friday in Johnson City for the Class B title.

In boys soccer Wednesday evening, both Owego and Spencer-Van Etten/Candor (SVEC) scored decisive victories to advance to their respective title games which will be held Saturday at Wright National Soccer Campus, Oneonta.

Owego blanked Chenango Forks 6-0 in the Class B semifinal and will face Oneonta while SVEC outscored Bainbridge-Guilford 6-3 in the Class C semifinal and will face Trumansburg.
