During the Tioga County Legislature’s tenth regular meeting on October 12, 2021, in a show of support and gratitude for veterans, an Executive Proclamation was read and presented declaring the county’s participation in Operation Green Light.

According to the press release from the Tioga County Legislature office, the mission of Operation Green Light is to show support to veterans of all military conflicts, with special emphasis on veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, while raising awareness to the challenges faced by these men and women in uniform. County residents and business owners are asked to display a green light inside or outside their homes or businesses in hopes of sparking meaningful conversations among friends, neighbors, and passersby regarding the recognition of veterans. These veterans will then also know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported.

In addition, the Tioga County Courthouse will be illuminated green in a display of honor and support, said organizers.
