Man, Woman Face Combined 20 Charges after Weekend Drug Bust in Broome County

Drugs seized by Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force.

Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed multiple related narcotics search warrants last Friday night at Nowlan Ridge Estates, 940 Nowlan Road, Port Crane, an associated vehicle, a secondary location at 58-58½ Schubert St., Binghamton, and a U-Haul storage unit in Johnson City.

Task Force investigators located over a half pound of Fentanyl, with a street value of approximately $27,000. A total of $78,000 in cash was seized, which is suspected proceeds from drug sales. There was also a loaded Derringer handgun, additional ammunition, powder cocaine, digital scales and drug packaging materials. A five-month old child was present in the residence in Port Crane. The child is currently in the care of a family member. A hotline complaint was made to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. Worth C. Brown and Amy Nieves were both arrested as a result of this investigation.

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A-II Felony,
  • two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, class B Felonies,
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a class C Felony,
  • six counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, class A Misdemeanors and
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A Misdemeanor.

Amy Nieves
Female, 37 years old
940 Nowlan Road, Port Crane

Charges:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A-II Felony,
  • two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, class B Felonies,
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C Felony,
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A Misdemeanor,
  • three counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, class A Misdemeanors
  • and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A Misdemeanor.

Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force is comprised of members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Binghamton Police Department, the Village of Johnson City Police Department and Village of Endicott Police Department.

The Task Force was assisted on scene by marked patrol units from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.

Brown and Nieves were both arraigned Saturday morning at the CAP arraignment court and both were remanded without bail to the custody of the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility where they are still currently being held.

A five-month old child was present in the residence in Port Crane. The child is currently in the care of a family member.
