From the Newark Valley School District: Newark Valley Central School District was notified Friday of confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Newark Valley High School and Middle School. Due to privacy laws, information regarding these individuals’ identities cannot be released. We ask that you please respect their privacy.

The district is working in consultation with the Tioga County Department of Health on proper procedures for all faculty, staff, and students regarding quarantining and testing. We are assisting the Tioga County Health Department with a contact tracing investigation. The health department will be in contact with those individuals who are affected by the confirmed case and give directives on the quarantine processes.

Due to the number of students and staff who are affected by contact tracing and are required to quarantine, grades 7-12 will pivot to remote instruction. In-person instruction for grades 7-12 will resume on October 29th.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide any necessary updates.

The health and safety of our students, staff, and school community continues to be our top priority. We appreciate your patience and ongoing cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of everyone in our district.

Sincerely,

Todd Schaffer
Executive Principal
