Opening tonight: Popular town fair opens its 50th anniversary celebration in Conklin

CONKLIN, N.Y. — Fifty years from the date of the first Conklin Fair, the Conklin Fair continues to grow and attracts over 5,000 attendees. The 2021 Fair will be held July 15, 16 and 17, and feature all of the activities –and many free activities –that delight those who attend the fair every year. As always, there will be plenty of free parking and no entrance fee. A shuttle service is in the works for those who would like a ride from their vehicle to the gate.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the traditional First Responders Parade will not take place this year, but there will be an opening Ceremony on the fair stage on Thursday at 7PM when we will pay tribute to the fair’s 50 years and also pay tribute to several volunteers in the community who have served one organization for 50 years — quite an accomplishment.

On the fair grounds at 5PM on Thursday, Main Event Amusements will open the midway with its $20 ride special and bigger rides, and local organizations will offer all the traditional fair foods including the Conklin Kiwanis’ popular funnel cakes and the Windsor Knights of Columbus’ Bloomin’ Onions. The Fair Committee will have its usual spot offering reasonably priced hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and Strawberry Shortcake.

One of our main goals is to make this a family friendly event. For that reason our ride ticket special has remained the same for several years and we offer a Children’s Tent with all kinds of FREE fun. There will be games and prizes will be plentiful. The balloon man will be there and on Saturday the YoYo Man will make a special appearance. The Binghamton Macaroni Kid oversees the children’s tent, so you know it will be terrific.

There will be music every night by outstanding music groups like: Katie Scott & Persuasion, 5th Gear, Short Change, Rum Runners, Paul Noyd, and The Look. And, everyone’s favorite emcee, Just In Case, will be overseeing it all.

There will be a Cupcake Baking Contest, an Ice Cream Eating Contest, one of Pennsylvania’s finest wood carvers, Conklin Drone Wars, a mini-job fair everyday, car show (cars pre-1973), and the popular beer tent—Just to highlight a few!! Our traditional Saturday night Fireworks Display will close out the 2021 Conklin Fair at 10PM.

Come visit us at the Conklin Fairgrounds, 956 Conklin Road, Conklin, next to the Maines/Conklin Community Center.
