An inmate at the Bradford County Correctional Facility who escaped custody last week after he was taken to a local hospital for treatment is back behind bars.

According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 30-year-old Ryan Charles Kithcart was committed to the Bradford County Jail on Tuesday after being charged with terroristic threats, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

During his processing at the jail, officials noticed something strange in his abdomen. He was sent by ambulance to the Towanda Memorial Hospital but was not escorted by police or corrections officers.  Kithcart was released from the hospital on Tuesday, but never returned to the Bradford County Jail.

According to WBNG-TV, Kithcart was found and taken back into custody by law enforcement at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday night.

The Bradford County District Attorney’s Office is investigating why no law enforcement personnel were with Kithcart at the hospital.
